Safe Use of Cable Location & Avoidance Equipment
A half-day training course aimed at all personnel involved in excavations where there is a likelihood of buried services under the guidance of HSG 47.
The aim of the course is to train selected personnel in the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the standards of competence to carry out the duties of service location surveys before and during excavation.
Delegates are assessed by question and answer sessions during theoretical module and then performance assessed during practical module.
Certificate of Competency issued to all delegates who successfully complete the course.
OVERVIEW
Identify different types of underground services.
Use pipe and cable locators.
Safely operate a basic Cable Avoidance Tool and Genny.
Demonstrate an awareness of methods concerning the detection of underground services.
Select and understand cable plans.
Demonstrate an understanding of responsibilities under relevant legislation
